The population of the world

The population of the world increases at an abnormal rate. Medical science increases man’s longevity. Everyday the number of children born is greater than the number of deaths. Floods, earthquakes, cyclones, volcanic eruptions, pestilences, adverse weather conditions, wars, murders, suicides and accidents kill thousands of people. Yet the total number of deaths per year is nothing before the total number of births per year.

Natural resources are being used up with great speed. Forests are destroyed to get fuel. Coal, oil and wood are insufficient to satisfy our requirements. Substitute energies like the atomic energy, solar energy and electricity are expensive. Industrialization and modernization destroy the agricultural fields. To get adequate food from the available arable-fields, chemical manures are used. They rapidly use up the soil-strength. Even minerals are getting exhausted.

Mankind is likely to get less food and less living-space in the near future. The only way to overcome this difficulty is to limit the population growth. Young men and young women must marry after their minds and bodies have become natural mature and fit. Married people must follow the Family Planning devices.

If the family is small with only two children and their parents, the children can be looked after better. The parents should see that there is a gap of three; years between the birth of the first child and that of the second child. In that case the mother will get sufficient time to recoup her health and strength and the child also will be strong and healthy.

Food production does not increase as fast as and in direct proportion to the population increase. Hence many thousand of people starve. Their starvation increases if there is famine in the country or failure of monsoons. The living space available to every individual will go on decreasing as population goes on Increasing. Economic problems cannot be solved by economic plantings alone till the population growth is checked.
